FixQR
How to use FixQR
FixQR puts a real QR code on a flyer, image, poster, or graphic that is already finished. You add a code where there is none, or you cover one that does not scan. The rest of the design stays put. The picture stays on your computer. Editing stays in this browser. There is no account.
Open https://fixqr.app. The editor is the page. The steps on that page are “Upload, then add or replace, then verify, then download.”
Open the site
The homepage heading is “Add or Replace a QR Code on Any Flyer or Image.” The line under it says to upload your finished flyer, image, poster, or graphic, and to add a new QR code or replace one that doesn't scan, without rebuilding the design.
The same editor opens from the task pages. The heading and the main button change with the job. The tools after the picture is open do not.
- Add to a flyer opens on “Add a QR Code to Your Existing Flyer.” The main button says Upload Flyer. The note says the flyer is already finished, then “PNG, JPG, WEBP, or SVG. Editing stays in this browser.”
- Add to an image opens on “Add a QR Code to Any Image.” The main button says Upload Image.
- Replace on a flyer opens on “Replace a Broken QR Code on Your Flyer.” The main button says Fix My Flyer.
- Code not scanning opens on “Why Is My QR Code Not Scanning?” The main button says Fix My QR Code.
- Fix an AI code opens on “Fix a Broken AI-Generated QR Code.” The main button says Fix AI QR Code.
Each of those pages also has + Add a QR Code, ↻ Replace a QR Code, Take Photo, and Try Demo.
Choose the picture
On the homepage, the box says “PNG, JPG, WEBP, or SVG. Editing stays in this browser.” Upload Image or Flyer opens the file chooser. + Add a QR Code and ↻ Replace a QR Code open the file chooser too, and they set the job: add a code, or replace one. Take Photo uses the camera. Try Demo builds a sample flyer in the browser. While it builds, the link says “Building a sample flyer…” and the page can show “Loading flyer.”
You can also drop a file on the page. Before a picture is open, the drop target says “Drop flyer here.” If a picture is already open, dropping another one asks “Replace this flyer?” The line under that is “This will replace the current flyer.” Cancel leaves the current picture. Replace opens the new one.
Upload, on the left, opens the file chooser as well. A PDF is refused. The status then says “Use a PNG, JPG, WEBP, or SVG flyer.”
If you leave and come back in the same browser, the picture you were editing can still be there. It stayed on this computer. It was not sent to an account, because there is no account.
Set the destination
Link is the panel on the right. It is open when you arrive. QR type starts on Website / URL. The field is labeled “Where should this QR code go?” The sample text in the field is example.com/menu.
With the field empty, it says “Add a link.” After a picture is open and the destination is still empty, the status says “Add a link, then we’ll build a real code.”
Type the address and the panel shows a line that starts with “Scans as”. A name such as example.com/menu is enough. The line then reads “Scans as https://example.com/menu”. The https:// is added when you leave it off. While the finished picture is being read, the status says “Checking the finished image…”
The QR type menu also has Phone, SMS, Email, Wi-Fi, Contact card, Plain text, Location, App download link, and Social profile. Each type shows its own fields.
- Phone asks for a phone number.
- SMS asks for a phone number and a message.
- Email asks for an email, a subject, and a message.
- Wi-Fi asks for a network name, security, and a password. Security is WPA, WEP, or None.
- Contact card asks for a name, phone, email, and company.
- Plain text asks for the exact text to encode.
- Location asks for a place, address, or coordinates.
- App download link asks for the link.
- Social profile asks for a network and a username or link. The networks are Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
Place or replace the code
Select moves the code. The help there says: “Drag the box over a code you want to replace, or onto an open spot if you are adding one. Pinch to zoom. Drag a corner to resize, and the top handle to rotate.”
On an add, the status can say “Drag the box where the new code should go.” On a replace, it can say “Drag the box over the code that does not scan.” If no code is found on its own, the status says “No code was found. Drag the box where a new code should go.” When the editor does find one, it can say “We found a possible QR code.”
The code is listed as QR 1. + adds another box. Smart Replace looks for a code already on the picture and moves the box onto it. If it cannot find one, it says “Couldn't find a code on the flyer. Drag the box onto it.” Hide handles puts the corner handles away, and the same button then says Show handles. Delete this QR removes the code you are editing.
Style is the next tool. It has Size, Rotation, a Reset for the rotation, Foreground, Background, Pattern, Eyes, Quiet zone, Center logo, and Frame. Pattern is Squares, Slightly rounded, Rounded, or Dots. Eyes are Square, Rounded, or Circle. A center logo can be removed with Remove logo. Subtle shadow is a checkbox. Frame starts at None. The other captions are SCAN ME, VIEW MENU, RSVP, BUY TICKETS, VISIT WEBSITE, LEARN MORE, BOOK NOW, and Custom. Custom asks for a custom caption.
Under those controls, the plate covers the old code. The page says it uses the same color as the quiet zone. The choices are Automatic, Solid, Transparent, and Match Flyer. Solid color is the color control for a solid plate.
Check that it scans
Test reads the finished picture, not a separate preview that you have to trust. Download stays off until the finished image verifies.
When the check passes, the status on the picture says “Ready to download.” The card on Test says “QR code detected”, “Destination verified”, and “Ready to download”, then the destination it read. The panel also shows a rating and short notes. On the sample flyer, with example.com/menu in the link field, the rating was Excellent. The notes were “Decoded on the flyer.”, “Contrast is strong.”, “Size is fine for scanning.”, and “Quiet zone is safe.” A different picture can get different notes. Those four are what that sample reported.
Test QR checks the finished image again. When it passes, the result says “QR code detected. Destination verified. Ready to download.” and then the destination it read. Open Link appears for a web address. On the sample, that button showed up next to Test QR after the check passed. Make QR More Scannable is the other button on the panel. If a code will not scan, the notes on Test are the place to look, and why QR codes are hard to scan explains the usual causes.
Download
Export is the blue button at the top, and it is also the last tool in the bar. Before the check passes, the panel says “Download stays off until the finished image verifies.” and Download is off. After the check passes, the panel says “Destination verified. Ready to download.” and Download turns on.
File can be PNG, JPG, or WEBP. PNG is the one selected at the start. Size can be Original, 1080p, 2K, 4K, or Print. Original is selected at the start. Download saves the finished picture. The screen that opens says Exporting… and “Preparing your flyer.”
The top bar also has Undo, Redo, and Before / After. Before / After compares the original picture with the one that has the code on it. The slider is labeled Original on one side and Fixed on the other.
